Cruisin For a Cure
By Nick Lopez
CRUISIN FOR A CURE is one of those shows you look forward to all year long the reason why you ask, It’s for a great cause, First of all, they prostate screened over 970 men at this years Event, Second the Venue is a good location with lots of room & an ocean breeze who could ask for more, Third you get to cruise all day long not just show! I wish more Events would copy this Event.
The day started early we set our alarms at 3:45 am yes that’s right 3 in the morning, Roll in starts @ 4:30am but that doesn’t include the cars that start to line up the night before! Well we thought we were crazy cruising on the 91fwy @ 4:30 in the morning until we saw a few groups of classic’s, then when we hit the 55fwy where the freeways merge that was real cool, we then new we aren’t the only crazy one’s out that early, we saw Hot Rods, Customs, trucks, classic’s , so many Gear Heads up so early, I never seen so much neon that early in the morning on the freeway, “by the way that’s Illegal” I started to wonder about how long the lines were going to be but to my surprise there were very small lines, we only waited about 4 minutes, those 150 volunteers were acted like pros they pushed over 3,473 registered vehicle’s threw the gates like one well oiled machine, you would never know that no one gets paid at this event and all the proceeds go directly to the Johnson Cancer Center in LA.
This Event took in over 25,000 Auto Enthusiasts, the reason why I use the word Auto Enthusiast is because this Event brings out some of California’s hottest Hot Rods, Classic’s, Customs, Trucks, Lowrider’s, and Bike’s you name it was there , well there was some vehicles there you couldn’t even categorize?
It was around 10am and I remember telling my father when is Roll in going to stop but it turns out people started to cruise @ 8am in the morning how cool is that, Well I know were I’ll be next Sept 22, 2007!
This Cruise took in more than $279,000 for the Johnson Cancer Center and still growing due to the insane 1932 Down’s Dear Borne Deuce there giving away @ the 2007 Cruise, If you want to put in your hat in for some tickets @ $20 each just go to the web site @ www.cruisinforacure.com or E-mail Debbie Baker @ dbaker52@aol.com and don’t forget its all for a great cause!
Debbie would also like to thank Orange County Harley Davidson for the Harley Deluxe they gave away at this years Cruise & Thank Meguiar’s for all those years of support and Down’s Manufacturing for the Crazy 1932 Deuce there going to give away next year!
And don’t forget to look for CoolCat @ next years cruise with there soon to be crazy lifted Monster Hummer!
